Turkey Burgers with Cranberry Sauce and Chips

Leave off cranberry sauce for picky eaters, though we think they’ll love the sweetness!


Ingredients

Chips

  • 500g agria potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Turkey Patties

  • ¾ red onion
  • 450g turkey mince
  • 1 tablespoon turkey spice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

To Serve

  • 5-6 seeded Kiwi burger baps
  • 1 tomato
  • ¼ red onion (optional, adults)
  • 1 pottle cranberry sauce
  • ½ bag baby spinach
  • Mayonnaise

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C. Line two oven trays with baking paper. Preheat BBQ hot plate and grill to high (if using). Cut potatoes into 1cm thick chips then toss with butter on first prepared tray. Season with salt and bake for 20-25 minutes, until cooked through and golden. Turn once during cooking.
  2. Very finely dice onion then add to a large bowl, along with all turkey patty ingredients, season with pepper and mix well using clean hands. Use a ½ cup measure to shape mixture into patties, measuring about 8cm wide and 1cm thick.
  3. Slice burger baps horizontally and place baps, closed, on one half of second prepared tray. Heat a drizzle of oil in a large fry-pan on medium heat. Cook patties, in batches, for about 2 minutes each side, until browned.
  4. Place patties on same tray as baps (overlap baps if required) and finish cooking in oven for about 5 minutes, until patties are just cooked through and baps are lightly toasted. Thinly slice tomato and very thinly slice red onion (if using).
  5. To serve, spread a little cranberry sauce on base of bun, top with a turkey pattie, tomato, spinach and red onion (if using). Spread top of bun with mayonnaise and place on top. Serve with a side of chips and any extra salad veggies.
