Preheat oven to 220°C bake.
Place bacon on a lined oven tray. Brush with first measure of maple syrup. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, or until golden and sticky.
While bacon is cooking, cut slab of hot cross buns through the centre, making sure they stay attached. Place on another lined oven tray and bake for 5 minutes, until warm and slightly crispy. Once finished cooking, immediately spread butter on both sides of the hot cross buns.
Pile bacon onto the bottom half of the buns. Drizzle over second measure of maple syrup and add the top half of buns. Cut into 6 and dig in!
