Cheesy Philly Beef Steak Baguettes with Caramelised Onion & Garlic Aioli

Bite into our take on this classic American sandwich, loaded with cheese, tender precut beef and sweet caramelised onion. Topped off with garlic aioli for a saucy finish, you won’t want to miss this one!


Ingredients

To Serve

  • 50g garlic aioli
  • 1 baguette

Slaw

  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 50g baby spinach
  • 150g slaw

Beef

  • 45g Colby cheese, grated
  • 1 brown onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 drizzle of oil
  • 300g beef stir-fry

Steps

  1. Pat beef dry and season with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a frypan on high heat. When oil is hot, stir-fry beef (in batches if needed) for 1-2 minutes, until browned and just cooked. Remove from pan and reserve pan.
  2. Thinly slice onion and grate cheese, set aside. Heat oil in reserved pan on high heat. Stir-fry onion for 7-8 minutes, until soft. Remove from heat and add cheese to melt. Season to taste with salt.
  3. Toss slaw and spinach with vinegar in a bowl and season to taste with salt.
  4. Place baguettes on a plate and microwave for about 1 minute to warm. Slice rolls lengthways down the middle, leaving a hinge.
  5. Fill up roll with slaw, beef and cheesy onions. Drizzle over garlic aioli. Serve extra slaw on the side.
