On the table in just 15 minutes, our Japanese beef rump tataki is sure to please! Seasoned with sesame salt, served with fresh carrot noodles and all brought together with a lime ponzu dressing. Healthy and satisfying!
Ingredients
Beef
- 1/2 tsp oil
- 275g lean beef rump steak
- 1/2 pack sesame seeds
- 1/2 pinch of chilli flakes, optional
Stir Fried Cabbage
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 100g sliced cabbage
- 1 pack chopped peanuts
- 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
Carrot Noodles
- 1 baby bok choy, sliced
- 100g julienned carrot
- 25g lime ponzu
To Serve
- 25g lime ponzu

Heat oil in a frypan on medium-high heat. Pat beef dry and coat with sesame seeds, chilli flakes (if using) and a pinch of salt. Cook for 3-4 minutes each side for medium-rare (depending on thickness), or until cooked to your liking. Rest, covered. Thinly slice beef before serving.

Heat sesame oil in a second frypan on medium-high heat. Cook cabbage with peanuts for 1-2 minutes. Add soy sauce and vinegar and cook for a further 1-2 minutes, until tender. Set aside to serve.

Slice bok choy. Add to a bowl with carrot and first measure of lime ponzu. Toss well to combine and set aside.

Divide cabbage and carrot noodles between plates and top with beef. Drizzle with second measure of lime ponzu.
