Italian Beef Steak Sandwich

Ingredients

Steak Sandwich

  • 1 pack beef sirloin steaks
  • 1 pack Italian spice mix
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 cos lettuce
  • 1 pack focaccia buns
  • 1 pack basil pesto
  • Mayonnaise ^

Salad

  • 2 tomatoes
  • ½ telegraph cucumber *
  • 1 pack mozzarella cheese
  • 1 pack balsamic glaze

Steps

  1. Prep beef Preheat BBQ grill and hot plate to medium. Pat beef dry and toss with Italian spice mix and a drizzle of oil. Season.
  2. Prep sandwiches Slice onion 1cm, roughly tear lettuce, cut focaccia in half horizontally and set all aside separately.
  3. Make salad Thinly slice tomatoes and cucumber, and tear mozzarella into pieces. Place on a platter, season and drizzle with olive oil and balsamic glaze just before serving.
  4. Cook beef and bread Cook beef on BBQ grill for about 4 minutes each side for medium (depending on thickness) or until cooked to your liking. Rest, covered, before slicing thinly against the grain. While beef rests, brush buns with oil and toast on grill for about 1 minute each side, until golden and toasted.
  5. Cook veggies Cook onion on BBQ hot plate for about 5 minutes, turning often until tender. Season.
  6. Serve everything in the middle of the table.
